Words would fall short to describe a Malayalee's love for beef.

Being a Malayalee myself, the first thing I demand as soon as I get back home is beef. Its a sin to say no to roasted beef blended in coconut and fried onion. Well, who would dare to say no to that? It is not just a dish, it is an emotion.

No wonder, Kerala is the first state in the whole of India to have blindly rejected beef ban, imposed by the BJP government under the reign of PM Narenda Modi. According to the reports of Asianews, the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan outright said that, "The new rule is nothing but a blatant violation on the rights of individuals to eat what they wish and want."

Even though many other states in the nation accepted the law and enacted it, Kerala, being the highest consumer of the meat, stood against the government strongly.

The protecting 'gomatha' argument did not workout in the state, who didn't find any rationale in considering cow as the mother, all of a sudden.

Kerala has an equal population of Hindus, Muslims and Christians. And irrespective of the religion one belongs to, almost everybody share a deep affection towards the meat.

The immense love for the combination of beef and porotta is reflected even in many Malayalam movies as well. Tovino Thomas, a leading actor of the Malayalam industry, unabashedly explains what the combination of beef and porotta means to a regular Malayali to a Tamil friend, in a scene from the movie, Godha.

Soon after the ban, Keralites took their protests to the social media platforms, such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook as well. Twitterattis all over the country were left with their jaws dropped, as the massive malayalee population took to twitter and posted pictures of their favorite mouth-watering beef dishes showing their protest, right the next day. The Hashtag that read #pomonemodi went viral in twitter in no time.

Here's a sneak peak to a few of them,

Widespread beef festivals were also held in various parts of the state, such as Kochi, Thodupuzha, Kollam, including the capital, Thiruvananthapuram.

Fun fact : A Hindu report states that, Sangeet Singh Som, a BJP MLA who fiercely lead the anti-beef protests, founded one of India's leading meat export companies. And India still remains the largest exporter of Beef in the World!
